With attention to detail – There are over 2000 Indian paintings in the Museum Rietberg's collection, which inspire enthusiasm and awe with their wealth of detail. More than almost any other museum, the Museum Rietberg has devoted itself to their research, interpretation and presentation in countless exhibitions and publications for decades.
The Museum Rietberg has been showing Indian painting in the historic rooms of the Park-Villa Rieter for 30 years. To mark this anniversary, the exhibition "With a love of detail" looks back at the most important milestones in this international and collaborative scientific work and highlights the significant contributions that the Museum Rietberg has made in this area.
Where were these paintings created and which artists do we know? How were albums and picture series created? How were the works viewed? And what themes continue to occupy us?
The exhibition explores these questions using 60 of the most significant paintings from the museum's own collection. The MuseumRietberg thus invites visitors to discover and share their love of the details of Indian paintings.
