The ballet Swan Lake is inspired by a German legend. Marius Petipa gave him his own choreographic reading in 1895. The ballet, which became one of the most popular in the world. Since then, this ballet has been a true reference within classical dance. All dancers dream of playing Odette during their career, with as much innocence and perseverance as this legendary role requires.
For a prima ballerina, the dual role of the white swan, Odette, and the black swan, Odile, is one of the most beautiful and difficult roles.
The stakes are not only high for the stars, it is also high for the corps de ballet. This is evidenced by the Polonaise of the first act, the large white acts bringing together twenty ballerinas on stage, or even the Pas de Quatre from Les Petits Cygnes, one of the most difficult in the repertoire. Since 1877, when it was created by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, this emblematic work of 19th century romantic ballet has been the subject of numerous reinterpretations, going so far as to present different endings.
