Oh, wow!
“What do visitors say the moment they enter the Kongresssaal? It’s something like ‘oh wow!’,” laughs Roger Büchel, Chief Executive Officer of Zurich Convention Center. No wonder, because everything comes together in the best possible location: a unique atmosphere that’s characterized by timeless architecture and a rich history, the latest event technology (elegantly tucked away and barely visible), additional interior and exterior spaces that can be used in parallel, and not forgetting our creative and highly flexible in-house catering.
Architecture and history create a unique atmosphere
The timeless architecture of the late 1930s shines again in renewed splendour after its painstaking renovation. Generous simplicity, elegance in every detail, and high-quality materials exude the spirit of days gone by, as do all the events, concerts and conventions that have been staged in this hall: over more than 80 years, a dazzling succession of global stars such as the Rolling Stones, Ella Fitzgerald and Tina Turner have come and gone. Nevertheless, the walls of the Kongresssaal could also tell their stories about lavish balls or emotionally charged AGMs. “The Kongresssaal is the perfect setting for all sorts of things,” says Roger Büchel. “Besides conventions, we have award ceremonies, product presentations, TV shows, employee events, weddings, concerts, parties, exhibitions, AGMs, auto shows… the Kongresssaal can be used for any type of event.”
An inspiring infrastructure
Whether it be a breakout session, networking in the foyer or a drinks reception on the terrace with views of the lake and Alps, guests at the Kongresssaal will have numerous interior and exterior rooms and spaces at their disposal. All of them are inspiring, stimulating and diverse in their own way, and can be fitted out to suit individual requirements. Events with up to 4500 visitors are therefore possible, right in the centre of Zurich and accessible to all.
Discreet event technology
Big halls, big events, and big emotions - so you need the latest technology to put all of this into the right light: nothing is more annoying than poor sound quality or lighting. Of course even the best technology won’t be much help if the corresponding professionals are lacking, but our collaboration with Venon Projects AG ensures we have everything covered. It not only guarantees that things will run smoothly, but means we can offer you that certain technical je ne sais quoi so you can get even more out of the respective event.
In-house catering makes everything easier
From a five-course banquet to creative and no-nonsense street food: our in-house catering is flexible and full of bright ideas, but can also supply really large events without any problem. This makes things even easier for our guests because it means that catering doesn’t have to be separately coordinated and managed: everything happens on-site, and quality is assured. This also means that everything can be processed via the same contact person, and nothing is left to chance.
A comprehensive service package, delivered with passion and vigour
It doesn’t matter if you’re an experienced event manager or this is your first time: we offer everyone thoughtful and dedicated support and advice. We know best what our building and the Kongresssaal in particular have to offer, and how we can best make our guests’ wishes a reality. Sometimes it’s also about actually telling people what’s possible: for example, we take it for granted that we should also take care of hotel accommodation during conventions or provide inspiration for the social programme – these are services that will be especially beneficial for event organizers who lack experience.
“The Kongresssaal is our centrepiece, and we’re proud to be able to offer such an amazing space right here in the centre of Zurich: it’s one of the best-equipped and most fascinating venues in the surrounding area. And it’s right by the lake and has everything an event organizer’s heart could desire,” is how Roger Büchel, Chief Executive Officer of Zurich Convention Center, summarizes what the Kongresssaal can offer, and he admits: “Even I still think ‘wow’ every time!”
